Michal Shoham-Polonsky
Registered Psychologist
Being in the profession for over a decade now, I worked with clients across the life span and within different settings such as public health, NGO organisation and private practice. I have facilitated parenting courses and conducted psychological research, but my current passion is individual therapy.
I see therapy as an opportunity to explore and improve our life, provide relief for mental pain and enable personal growth. I feel privileged to accompany my clients in their journey to wellbeing, and am aiming to provide a warm and accepting environment for the best outcomes of the therapy process.
As for my therapy style, I draw from different approaches, tailored to my client’s needs. I believe that linking current issues to past experiences can promote deep understanding of ourselves, which in turn leads to change and wellbeing. This joined view and my interest in Schema Therapy brought me to work at the Good Mood Clinic. Some of the modalities I have worked with over the years are: Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Systemic Family Therapy.
I also work with Systemic Family Therapy approach.
Some of my specific interests include:
- Depression and Self Esteem
- Anxiety Disorders
- Relationship issues
- Adolescence struggle
- Parenting challenges
- Life changes
- Trauma
- Grief and Loss
